St Ayles Skiff International

History

From the humble origins of an idea floating around the Firth of Forth in Scotland and with the help of the Scottish Fisheries Museum this community driven idea was developed into an now international phenomenon. At the first Scottish regatta a mere 10 existing skiffs participated. At SkiffieWorlds 2013 in Ullapool 35 skiffs competed. In 2015 the 100th Skiff was launched in the Netherlands. And on from there this Scottish formula took off around the globe with now 350+ skiffs community built and launched worldwide. Realizing this was getting global attention the Scottish Coastal Rowing Association handed over its stewardship of the measurement rules, safeguarding the class’s unity by installing St Ayles Skiff International Ltd as its guardian. SASI comprises of a board of representatives from 4 national class associations and is the governing body of international competition in the St Ayles Skiff.
